As a teacher and a school counselor, I have been looking for ways to improve my skills and techniques to help young children. I wanted something practical that I could apply directly to my sessions. Post Graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills program answered my needs beautifully. Everything that I learned inside the class had allowed me to grow not only professionally, but also personally. I often consider my time learning in the class as a group therapy session because it helped me heal and grow as a whole individual.

One of the uniqueness of this program is how it highly emphasized the importance of practicing what I learned in the class. Unlike many other programs that only shared intellectual knowledge and leave the practice to each individual, this program pushed me to expand my abilities and sharpened my skills through my supervised clinical hours. I can see how play therapy helps children to cope with their issues and problems.

In my opinion, this is a very ‘safe’ program; for me as a participant, and for the people I work with. Why? Because, first of all, the course director and the curriculum taught in class are approved by PTUK. PTUK is a UK based organization that is very research-based. This means all the things that I learned in the class are up-to-date with current issues and acknowledged by the government of UK. Second, as a participant in this program, I am registered as a member of Play Therapy International. And as such, I am bound to follow all the guidelines they have during my clinical hour sessions with children. This benefits my clients as my sessions with them are supervised by a certified and experienced play therapist.

All in all, I am thankful to be a part of this program. It truly exceeds my expectations.
